DETAILS

Join us on Saturday, June 29th from 9am-12pm for a Native Habitat Seed Cleaning. We will be meeting at the Get Outdoors Nevada Office located at 21 N. Pecos Rd. Ste. 106 Las Vegas, NV 89101. Registration is limited and required. Native Habitat Program Background: The Native Habitat Program aspires to improve access to locally sourced native seeds through our Urban Seed Initiative. Many seeds labeled as "native seeds" from stores or purchased online are not from our Mojave desert region and may cause more problems than the solutions we are seeking. This is significant because pollinators have adapted to seeking nectar from local sources. Our initiative aims to address the problem of lack of food for pollinators and environmental sustainability. What will volunteers be doing? Volunteers will hand-harvest, clean, and package these seeds. All seeds come from plants native to the Las Vegas area and are collected at our native habitat locations throughout the valley. This effort creates more habitat within our city and nourishes migrating pollinators. We will host weekly seed cleaning and packaging volunteer events at our office's warehouse, we will teach you everything you need to know and provide all the resources and materials needed to get the job done.
